Mairéad Ní Chathasaigh is a member of a very musical West Cork family. She is a multiple All-Ireland, Oireachtas- and Pan-Celtic-winner in harp fiddle,tin-whistle and Irish traditional singing. She has toured in the USA, Canada, Italy, Belgium and France, given traditional singing workshops in Ireland and the UK and is a regular adjudicator at Fleadhanna Cheoil throughout Ireland and at Fleadh Cheoil na h-Éireann. She released a critically acclaimed album, Sibling Revelry, with her sisters, Nollaig and Máire in 2013.
Mairéad will lead fun and informative classes in traditional song in both the Irish and English languages. No prior knowledge of Irish song is required. Aspects of style, technique and ornamentation will be explained and demonstrated and students will learn to sing a number of different types of song throughout the week.
