Celtic Relief Carving in Limestone is taught by Laura Travis- Employing a useful, direct technique, the characteristic qualities of the relief sculptures carved on high crosses and stele are captured. The approach works great for garden art and gifts. No drawing skills are needed, and age 15 and up are welcome. This class meets mornings only. All the tools and two small stones are provided; students may purchase tools to continue carving on their own. Students need to bring their own sandbag (pillowcase and sand or kitty litter) and personal eye protection goggles for use in the FIRST class. The supplies for these are available locally.
